Ingham County MSU Extension to Offer Beekeeping Program Series

Thousands of Americans keep bees for honey and wax production as well

as for garden/crop pollination.  It is relatively inexpensive to acquire

the necessary equipment for backyard beekeeping and it requires less

land than other forms of agriculture.   One of the greatest benefits of

beekeeping is that it can be a fun and educational activity for the

whole family.  Ingham County MSU Extension, in cooperation with the

Michigan Beekeepers Association, is offering three educational programs

designed to either get you started beekeeping or to help you fine-tune

what you already do.  The programs are: Beekeeping Basics, Intermediate

Beekeeping, and Advanced Beekeeping.  These educational sessions will be

held at the MSU Pavilion in East Lansing from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

according to the following schedule:

Beekeeping Basics: January 24

Intermediate Beekeeping: January 31

Advanced Beekeeping: February 12

The workshops will include interactive presentations, hands-on

activities, video presentations, and opportunities for

questions/answers.

Cost for each session: $25.00 per person when the RSVP response is

received by January 20

$30.00 per person after January 20

The price includes lunch, refreshments, and printed materials.
